Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Toni Gonzalez-Collins, an American-Mexican sportscaster. She currently works for ESPN as a anchor for SportsCenter and sometimes hosts SportsNation. The first time she worked at ESPN at the end of 2016. She is the daughter of television journalist Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta has been bi-lingual since age nine. Her skill was instrumental in helping her land her first post as a production assistant at Univision Miami and Univision Miami, where she assisted the production of programs including Nuestra Belleza Latina and Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud. Then it was announced that it was the CBS subsidiary of St. Petersburg employed her as a sport reporter. Then she moved to Rio Grande Valley in 2009 as a reporter for Fox2 News, the Spanish channel KNVO TV 48 Univision, and Fox2 News. Reporters covered issues related to migration and trafficking of drugs across both Texas and Mexico. She also filled in anchors on sports and weather. In the following, she anchored and also reported for Univision's Dallas affiliate Deportes 23 where she was granted more responsibilities. She was a reporter for all of the Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS World Series and Dallas Cowboys, NBA postseason and finals FC Dallas as well. In addition, she hosted Univision 23's local sports broadcast Accion Deportiva Extra on which she was anchor. She became a sports host for the morning program of Despierta America Deportes. In the same position for the channel's magazine program Primer Impacto and for UniMas Network's Contacto Deportivo. Antonietta's parents were originally of Veracruz Mexico. They moved at some point into Mexico City, where Antonietta Collins was born in November 1985. There is an older sister. The family left in 1992 Mexico for the US and moved to Miami. Her parents divorced soon after and her mother got married to a naval architect named Fabio Fajardo who passed away of kidney cancer in 2006. In the summer of 2006, she had a week with her sister at Canton Ohio. The older Collins girl was working at the time. As a senior in high school but with a clear idea what she wanted to do for her life, Antonietta attended The University of Mount Union to assess if it suited her goals. The result was that she liked the campus and also that the university had the major she wanted. She finished school and enrolled at the university to study media studies. The relationship she formed was long-lasting with her teacher Mark Bergmann who was the manager at WRMU 91.1 FM, of which she was an affiliate. He encouraged her to be confident and self-confident. His passion for journalism was deeply affecting her and she also was determined to fulfill his expectations and never fail him.
